Weird Macro Lens Designed Not To Scare Tiny Subjects – Image that you’re an itsy-bitsy creature sitting on your favourite leaf, just minding your own business when suddenly a lumbering giant turns up and pokes an enormous glass tube in front of your face.
It’s a fight or flight situation and since this thing is a heck of a lot bigger than you then flight is the obvious choice.
Many macro photographers will have experienced this scenario and one lens manufacturer thinks they’ve come up with a solution. It’s the new Laowa 24mm f/14 Replay 2x Macro lens from Venus Optics and it’s aimed at macro enthusiasts who don’t want to scare off their tiny, shy subjects.
There’s not a lot of specs information at the moment other than the full-frame lens features a two-to-one maximum macro reproduction ratio and is designed to fit Nikon F and Canon EF lens mounts. It’s set to be released sometime in 2017.
There’s no mention of price either, but it’s said to be “affordable”, whatever that means.
We’ll keep an eye out for more info and post it here as it arrives.
