Hi, I’m your host Dave Foster and I’d like to extend a very warm welcome.
Today we are in the middle of a perfect digital storm. Technological advances in software and hardware over a 40-year period has culminated in the ability for most people (of all ages) to quickly and easily communicate and collaborate with others anywhere, at any time, using nothing more than a desktop computer, the phone in our hand or the watch on our wrist.
This has caused massive disruption in hundreds of established industries. It has many world governments panicking as their power to control and use information for their own ends is diminished by the day. It also throws up many challenges as more (or less) malevolent individuals and organisations use the very same technology to advance their own agendas.
As entrepreneurs, digital technology offers an unprecedented opportunity to create and share services, products, skills and expertise with anyone and that’s why this site has been created.
Before you set off to explore, here’s a brief explanation of why the site exists in the first place, what is the ongoing purpose and how you can benefit from the material and information available.
First of all, this project is very new. In fact it’s so new, not all the parts are in place yet and to be fair, a website wasn’t the first intention. This was supposed to be an online video course (still in production) which typically, evolved into something more than was originally imagined. During the development of the course it became obvious there had to be a central destination where reference material, support information and ongoing dialogue could take place. This site is that place.
The first video course will be launched soon (more on that at a later date) and in the run up to that I’ll be feeding in relevant articles and news items to help anyone who wants to learn more about digital media and how it can help in their own projects and enterprises.
I’ve been around the block a few times and have decided to take what I’ve learned (and continue to learn every day) and share that knowledge with you.
Let me be honest here. I’m a backroom technician at heart and not very comfortable being in any kind of spotlight. However I have been persuaded to front this project and after a considerable amount of soul searching decided to put my name to it (not to mention my photo… ughh!).
In addition to the written articles there will also be short multimedia presentations on a range of digital tools and techniques.
Don’t expect slick, OTT presentation. Do expect solid, well researched, tried and tested information that I hope will help you progress your own knowledge, skills and results.
I know the site is not perfect and improvements will be necessary. I’m more than happy to take on board comments and suggestions that will help enhance the user experience, so feel free to let me have your thoughts. You can get in touch with me here: CONTACT… Enjoy.
All the best,
